I am independent, have a broad background and bring together a practical approach and a high-level appreciation of the issues at stake in the financial services industry. I have a detailed knowledge of the investment process and the practical workings of boards and corporate governance.
Board experience includes: current chairman and director of Fundhost, a boutique responsible entity; two Ellerston ASX listed investment companies and until 2014, an independent director of a National Australia Bank subsidiary responsible entity. In 2008 independent non executive director and chair of the audit committee for RiverCity Motorway, an ASX listed infrastructure manager; independent non-executive directorships of Bankwest’s responsible entity and superannuation trustee board and past executive directorships of fund managers dating back to 1986.
I am the independent chairman of the Investment Committee for Implemented Portfolios Limited, a boutique investment manager and an external member of compliance committees for a wide range of registered schemes and responsible entities and have served on 29 committees (including two of the major banks), many as chairman.
After my full time executive career, I initially developed compliance programs and investment processes for fund managers, this developed into roles on boards, investment committees and compliance committees. I also give a great deal of informal advice to fund managers wishing to start up boutique fund management operations in Australia. As a senior executive in the funds management industry, I am well known to the participants in the industry.
I co-founded the Independent Compliance Committee Member Forum in March 1999. The ICCMF meets in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
In my executive life, I was an investment manager and before that, worked in the Securities Markets Department of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
